Hola Everyone,
I hope you are taking care of yourselves during this holiday season. I was trying to find a quote on gathering but I came across this quote by Cesar Chavez as a reminder of what the holiday season is all about:
For those of us who are feeling all the feels this season anticipating being around people who may not share your political views or the constant news coverage of the devastating wars that are happening all over the world. It can be very overwhelming and frustrating. I am right there with you. We are living in challenging times and we have to give ourselves grace and space to feel all the feels.
Below are a few practices that may help with staying present and connected during this holiday season:
Write out all the moments you are grateful for this year
Take a moment to breathe, take a pause in your mind and body to help regulate your nervous system and calm your nerves in stressful situations.
Do something that brings you joy
Rest, actually let your mind and body do nothing, nada
Upcoming Event:
We will have a guest instructor, Marisol Espinoza Viera who will be leading us into a Chair Yoga Session. She is a NY native, a Brooklyn-based yoga teacher. She completed Y200 training in 2020, receives ongoing Y500 training through her guru, & is a devout Shaivite. Marisol approaches yoga from the perspective of living, not doing. Yoga is an ancient lifestyle geared towards spiritual liberation, not something one does in discrete instances at a studio. She approaches all her work, yoga offerings included, through an intersectional, trauma-informed, & queer perspective.
Follow her @marisolvibracion to stay up to date with her events, classes, & offerings.
Lofty Heights Movement is a holistic collective that fosters connection, community, and education within the physical and digital space for BIPOC/LGBTQI+ holistic practitioners and Bronx community members.
I hope you have a great and restful holiday!
Con mucho mucho amor,
Jazy
