Hola family,
How are we doing? I hope you are doing well!
For me, trying my best to stay warm and focused out. It’s brick out here!! 🥶
My Timbs are on deck and the throwback North Face bubble is keeping me warm.
I have so much to share with you!! I have updated my website with my offerings and clarified my mission with Lofty Heights Movement (LHM).
The idea of Lofty Heights has evolved from a blog on Tumblr showcasing my photos to a yoga business. In the last 10 years, I’ve been experimenting to try to figure out what Lofty Heights is and what I am trying to accomplish with it. I kept coming back to three things:
community
accessibility
physical space (specifically in the Bronx)
Last year, I was accepted into an accelerator program called Communitas Venture a four-month cohort-based program that supports primarily BIPOC and women social entrepreneurs. Shout out to cohort 10. 👐🏼👐🏼
During the program, I learned so many things about myself, and what I wanted for LHM and met awesome people who have become cheerleaders/accountability buddies.
Side note on cheerleaders/accountability buddies:
As a social entrepreneur/small business owner, it can feel isolating to work for yourself. You are constantly figuring out what to do next to build your business, make connections, and work a day job to sustain yourself. It’s frustrating, stressful, and lonely.
My crew is filled with awesome beauties, who call/ text, and sends funny memes or affirmations to get you through the day. We support each other by checking in or going to each other’s events.
Make sure you are taking care of yourself and have a group of peeps who are supportive and hold space when you need it. It’s so important because running your own business is not easy and really can’t do it alone. You need your tribe to help support you in mind and soul. :)
Back to the updates with me and LHM.
Since going through the program, I’ve been putting on monthly events to get an idea of LHM and its mission. I have updated our mission and how we are going to move forward in 2024.
Lofty Heights Movement is a collective that connects BIPOC/LGBTQAI+ artists and holistic practitioners with the tools, resources, and community to thrive and live sustainably in NYC.
We want to be a part of the holistic socio-economic justice in the Bronx by:
bringing accessible, affordable wellness practices to help support and empower the community to live healthier.
Share resources and tools to help artists and holistic practitioners thrive personally & professionally.
Create a physical safe space for all.
Ultimately it’s acquiring a flex space for all modalities and communities to come and enjoy the space where they can take classes, sit somewhere and read, or schedule a reiki session with a practitioner. A space designed by “the people, for the people.”
In the meantime, we will continue to put on monthly community events at Heyground Harlem to grow our community. I hope you can make our February Event.
As for me, the Creator behind Lofty Heights Movement. I have offerings to share with all of you! Shout out to Vicky aka storytelling strategist aka the Renaissance Empress who helped me build my website and bring my vision to life. Forever grateful for your support!
I can’t believe I have been a yoga educator, teaching the practice of yoga and mindfulness to children and adults for over 10 years in New York City. I am happy to share my knowledge and experience on how to bring these practices to the community in a relatable, inclusive way.
